Every time a special edition or sport edition rolls out into the Indian market, It has been nothing but pure disappointment for us petrolheads for a quite a long time. some cheesy body vinyls here and there with a new dual tone trim option, there you have the sports edition starter pack for Indian car market. wondering why??
Let's rewind a little bit. The abarth punto was everything a spirited car guy ever wished for; with brutal power figures and styling,  Fiat had a lot expectations on their beast. when it hit the market, the practical Indian doesn't want to spend 10 lakhs on a hatchback with poor fuel efficiency. and the abarth had to face its fate. with very little sales, the abarth punto is already out of production.

Figo S : The Game Changer

Fortunate for us, Ford has blessed us with yet another hot hatch. this time, the new ford figo s. the most intriguing thing about the new ford figo s is that it is not just another gimmicky edition with just visual updates. here are 7 reasons why you should probably buy one.

1. It's Smoking Hot




















That's right. the Figo S gets sporty visual upgrades from the regular figo. the black honeycomb grille in the front gives a sporty character and a mean look to the figo s. the front headlamps are also smoked for a sporty appeal. figo S gets 15 inch stylish alloys and beefy 195/55 tires.

2. It's Bloody Quick

The 1.5 litre Diesel produces 100 hp and 215 nm of torque. it gives a top whack of 170 kmph. Ford didn't mess up with the engine because it is already in a pretty good shape in terms of performance.

3. Handles better than ever before.

one will not easily forget the ford Fieasta for it's superior handling abilities. Ford has done the same job with the new figo s. The suspension got more stiffer and they have sized up the anti-roll bars. equipped with the meaty 195/55 tires, the new figo s is pure fun to ride.

4. It's a Manual !!

as far as the purists are concerned, nothing beats the thrill of driving a manual. even though the polo gt tsi has a great engine and a super quick 7 speed DSG tranny, VW missed to score by not giving a manual even as an option. where as in the case of figo s, the engine is mated to a 5 speed manual. fun all day long.

5. Sporty Interiors




















ford has managed to do a fantastic job on the interior. the seats, steering wheel and the shift boot have now red stitching on them which looks very stunning.

6. It Costs almost the same as the regular figo

wait, what? that's where ford has managed to pull the trick. losing out 4 air bags out of the 6 and with zero chrome, the figo s manages to retain an ex showroom price of 7.39 lakhs. it must be also noted that both polo gt and baleno rs comes with 2 air bags only. so nothing much to think about there.

7. More Fun Cars for India

last, but not the least. the abarth had a tragic fate. however the figo s is a practical choice with good performance. if figo s was to face the similar fate as of abarth punto, there is higher probability that we won't be treated with good cars in the future simply due to our ignorance. godspeed.
